MUTEK FESTIVAL TURNS 10

Sunday, June 7th, 2009
MUTEK is an ONG settled in Montreal, Canada, which sees to produce an annual festival where different digital artists’ communities converge. Throughout nine editions, this festival has officiated as a culture medium for a great variety of experimental projects and has contributed to the development of a vast scene of musical products that already transcend international level.
With satellite events set in India, china, Berlin, Chile, Argentina and Mexico, MUTEK’s main feature is promoting reflection through diverse workshops and theme panels throughout five days in different venues, calling to hundreds of artists from all over to each site.
This year, its 10th edition, which took place between May 27th and 31st in Montreal, presented Afuken’s comeback with a live set, the incredible audiovisual show of German Wolfgang Voigt as GAS, Mathew Jonson vs. Dandy Jack live, Moderat (Modeselektor + Apparat), Ricardo Villalobos and Zip - together at a seven hour back to back DJ set -, and Ryoji Ikeda + Carsten Nicolai with their project Cyclo, among other big attractions.
For its part, and because of the anniversary, the Buenos Aires venue presented Matthew Dear, Dandy Jack, Sonja Moonear, Franco Cinelli, Dinky, Matthew Styles, Andrés Bucci, Leonel Castillo, Matapixels, Gisela Faure and Ernesto Ferreyra during the first two months of the year.
For the second half of the year they promise to keep celebrating with new activities soon to be confirmed. Look out!
