Our country’s south has become, in the last few years, one of the tourism’s hot spots worldwide. After his recent trip through the Patagonia, our Dutch photographer and partner in crime, Marc Van der Aa, provided us with pictures that reveal, through his lens, the spectacular and diverse landscapes that crowd the area. You can see his material on Civiles’ Facebook page or in www.farbone.com

CIVILES PROPOSES: LEO DAMARIO

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

This Argentine young man has been growing in popularity since he was 16, when he created an animated sitcom for MTV. At 19, he directed the short film “¡Yok!,” starring Emmanuel Horvilleur and, shortly after, “Gratis, el rockumental”, which recorded one of Babasónicos’ shows. This new film talent, who honors women’s beauty, continued its career in the production company Banana Films and shooting videos for bands, such as Miranda! and Babasónicos. His first full-length film is “Olympia”, swarming with beautiful models (many of them from Civiles, including Mecha Iñigo). The movie deals with porn industry and social networks, and Ale Sergi was in charge of the soundtrack. Olympia is an 18-year-old girl that spends a lot of money, listens to good music and, through her girlfriend, she enters porn industry. You’ll have to watch the movie to see how this story continues…

CIVILES SUGGESTS: WONDERWOOD

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

A new fragrance from our smell guru: Comme des Garçons.

The latest fragrance of the Japanese fashion brand designed by the genius Rei Kawakubo is, in her own words: “An evocation of exuberance. A positive wood overdose, notes of wood and synthetic wood constructions. (Wood has gone mad.)”

The note’s combinations include agarwood, cedarwood, sandalwood, cypress, gaiacwood, patchouli, vetiver, javanol, and cashmeran and pachminol. They are all very mystic and oriental scents. As a way of celebrating the launch of Wonderwood, the well-known artists of Stop Motion, the Quay Brothers, created a wonderful short film that conveys the essence of the new fragrance.

CIVILES RECOMMENDS: LUNFARDA MAGAZINE

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Gustavo Di Mario and Nicolás Monti’s publishing project is already on its fifth edition, and, with all its confidence, its look goes through places which are not so frequently visited. With Di Mario’s beautiful photos, Lunfarda is turning into the new cult magazine.

You can’t miss the chance of seeing it: www.revistalunfarda.com.ar. “Gente de mal vivir”.

Since October 8 until November 7 inclusive the room Prometeus of the Centro Cultural Recoleta will show the exhibition “Limitante,” a tour around the great world of Rafael Delceggio’s commercial photography. This world features an ideal balance between the client’s request and Deleceggio’s personal vision. In Rafael’s works, the theatrical image of the pictures is influenced by the Expressionism of the 40s, which is evidenced through a complex color palette and compositions embedded in a nostalgic character.

CIVILES SUGGESTS: “PRÊT-À-ROCKER” – MODA Y ROCK EN ARGENTINA (FASHION AND ROCK IN ARGENTINA)

Monday, July 26th, 2010

On July 19th, the journalist specialized in fashion Victoria Lescano, launched her second book, “Prêt-à-Rocker” (Planeta Publishing Company), in Ultra Bar, with friends and guests from fashion and music world, such as Noelia Mourier (Coco), Ricky Rúa (Los Brujos, El Otro Yo) and Pablo Ramírez, amongst others.
Rock consumption is mediated by the image: the listeners look at the cover and at the pictures of the CD`s booklet while listening to the music, they watch the videoclip of a song and perceive the scenic and choreographic deployment at a concert. We can conclude, then, that the symbiotic audiovisual relationship between fashion and rock always exists”, says the author.
In “Prêt-à-Rocker”, Lescano stamps her singular view of the relationship between fashion and rock in Argentina, since its beginnings to the present. More than forty years of history reviewed through the testimonies of its main protagonists: musicians, wardrobe artists and other creators from music and fashion industry.
